Here are DIY pest control techniques that may work for you...

Just please be cautious and put safety first when dealing with pests and the chemicals sometimes used in DIY attempts!

Rats and Mice (Rodents)

One DIY extermination method for rats and mice (and other rodents) involves putting out a bait mix in a small bowl near where you know the rats or mice are active. The bait mix is made up of equal parts baking soda and corn bread mix. The rodents eat the bait, and the baking soda expands inside them and, since it's purported that rats and mice can't burp, it eventually kills them.

The drawback is that when the rodents start feeling poorly, they go back to their nests to die, which might be in your crawlspace or attic, or inside your walls, which leaves you with rotting rodent bodies still in or near you dwelling area.

Bedbugs

Bed bugs are so aggravating! Not only do their bites itch, but they can carry diseases just like other biting insects. Worse yet, they live IN YOUR BED! They inhabit tiny crevices and cracks in your mattress, frame, or bedding.

Your can wash all your bedding on a HOT cycle, then dry it all on the highest heat. While you're doing that, you can bug bomb your whole house with a fumigant you buy at a hardware store. Will it work? People have gotten mixed results.

Either way, move fast on DIY bed bug extermination, or call us right away so the colony can be eliminated before they multiply and spread all over your house.

Other: Ants, Spiders, Birds, etc.

For ants, your DIY method involves poisoned baits that the ants take back into their nest, where the whole population feeds on it, including the queen, which can kill off the whole colony. You can also use lemon juice to block their pheromone trails. (That's how they tell each other where to find food.)
For spiders, you can use a 90-day spray from a hardware store, but USE AN N-95 OR BETTER RESPIRATOR MASK when applying the spray so you don't get those harsh chemicals into your airways.
For birds and other wildlife, you either have to repel them with chemicals or ultrasonic sounds (which get mixed results), or trap them and turn them over to Animal Control (which may be your best first move -- calling Animal Control in the first place).
